Project Co-founded by European Union
The project is part of the first joint call of the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) titled “The Way Forward: A Thriving Sustainable Blue Economy for a Brighter Future”.
Duration: April 2024 - April 2027
At BluEcho, we take an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to tackling underwater noise, following the guidelines set by the EU Technical Group. Building on the extensive work of previous projects, we aim to establish threshold values for continuous anthropogenic noise in water. We develop innovative noise mitigation devices for ships, integrating them into predictive maps to anticipate sustainable sea scenarios. In addition to assessing the ecological benefits of these mitigation measures, our sound maps feature a comprehensive economic analysis, providing a clear understanding of the medium-to-long-term costs associated with each approach.
